Right about now you may be asking yourself, “Why am I doing this?” While I definitely can’t answer that question for you, the sheer fact that you’re a reluctant soccer mom who is managing a soccer team probably means that the answer has something to do with caring, and that’s ALWAYS worth remembering.
Maybe it’s caring that a group of 11-year-old girls participate in a sports activity that builds self-esteem and friendship. Or that a co-ed team of 5-year-olds learn soccer basics and good sportsmanship. Or that a bunch of 13-year-old boys play in a tournament they’ve dreamed about. Or maybe it’s caring that parents have a space to come together on weekend afternoons to laugh, cheer on each other’s kids, and forget about the work week.
Whatever it is you care about that made you step up to take on this responsibility, think of it often. I promise that remembering why you’re doing this will help you soldier on when the going gets tough.
